Description

A hidden gem in the army surplus world. One of the most warm, breathable and easy to wear long john under layers. These types of under layers are made of a material called Half-Wool. Probably a mixture of 50% wool and 50% cotton as was used by the US army. Soft feeling on the bare skin although if you’re extremely sensitive for the itchiness of wool you might feel it. Elastic waist band on top and elastic cuffs at the ankles. This makes the trousers have a baggy balloon fit so air is trapped inside for even more warmth and comfort. Long johns can easily be worn under a normal jeans or other trousers. Probably way to warm for sport exercise but perfect as a base layer while working outdoors or simply wearing inside the house. Don’t wash too hot since they will shrink.

These were issued during the cold war when the military draft was there for young men. Hence the opening in the front. They were produced from the 50’s up to the early 90’s. Later models were produced from cotton or synthetic fibers.

Size 4 = size small
Size 5 = Size medium
Size 6 = size large
Size 7 = extra large

If you are around 173 cm tall a size 5 will fit perfectly. The elastic band and baggy fit makes them wearable for almost all waist sizes.

Condition: Only the best examples are picked out of many. Colors are still fresh, elastic waist band is still flexible and no sighs of wear from too many laundry cycles.
