Dutch army aramide fleece vest

Description

Soft vest that can be used as a stand alone jacket but also as a liner under other single layer jackets. Full zipper at the front and two zippered pockets at the hips. The cuffs have a thumb opening and the backside is extra long to prevent wind from coming under. These jackets are made of 43% Aramid, known from the brand names Kevlar and Nomex. The same material that is used in bullet proof vests and pilot jackets. A strong and from itself flame retardant material. The other materials are Viscose and Polyester that contained flame retardant additives. Later the Dutch army switched to regular polyester fleece vest. Probably because Aramid is a premium, high cost material.
