Description
This jacket is inspired on the British Windproof Smock (Arctic) and used by the Dutch Royal Marine Corps. This branch of the Navy is using a mix and match of British and American uniforms and equipment. Often direct purchases from these countries but also own reproductions.
The jacket also has a large hood. However in this version of the jacket it can be folded away in the collar. The distinctive metal wire to bend the hood in shape is a lot smaller than in the original windproof smocks. Two zipperes for ventilation at the armpits. Canadian style buttons. Made of so called rib-stop material. Not sure if it is intended as a rainproof garment but surely as a windproof garment. Two large pockets at the hips, two large pockets at the chest and also two pockets at the upper arm sleeves. Also a small inner pocket that can be closed with a zipper. This can be reached from under the storm flap that covers the main zipper. This is a feature carried over from the Dutch army rain jackets. No large ”poachers pocket” at the back but there the reinforcement inside the jacket at the bottom can be openend and closed with Velcro. In that way it can also be used as a large cargo pocket.
